What Wealthcast is

Is Wealthcast financial advice?

Wealthcast is an illustrative cashflow modelling tool, not regulated financial advice. It models your plan under your own assumptions so you can make your own decisions. We don’t recommend products or providers — see How Wealthcast works and the disclaimer.

See: How Wealthcast works · Disclaimer

Can I try Wealthcast before creating an account?

Yes — the live demo runs the real app with three ready-made example plans, no signup needed. It’s read-only, so you can explore the Roadmap, plan editor and planning tools without entering anything of your own. When you’re ready, the Free tier covers full setup and your own plan.

See: Live demo

Does Wealthcast connect to my bank?

No. You enter balances yourself — there are no bank connections or provider logins, and no transaction history flows through Wealthcast. You keep the numbers current with a short check-in: log what’s changed since your last snapshot and the Roadmap recalculates from there.

Getting started

What does setup ask for, and why?

A few quick questions: about you, your income and spending, and your pensions, savings, property and debts. Rough numbers are fine — everything can be edited later on the Plan page. Your date of birth sets your State Pension age and when you can access private pensions.

What’s the difference between my plan and my balances?

Your plan holds the settings: income, spending, retirement timing, pensions and your assumptions. Your balances are recorded separately as dated snapshots each time you check in. The Roadmap combines your latest plan with your latest snapshot — editing the plan and updating balances are two different jobs, and neither overwrites the other.

How do I keep my numbers up to date?

Run a short check-in to log what’s changed since your last snapshot. Each check-in becomes a dated snapshot, so your history shows how your net worth has moved over time. You don’t need to re-enter everything — only what’s changed.

How projections work

Why do projections start in today’s money?

Projections start in today’s money: what future amounts would be worth today, after inflation. That makes a number thirty years out directly comparable with your budget now. Roadmap charts can also show future pounds; tables, CSV exports and Foresight stay in today’s money.

See: Today’s money by default

Where do the assumptions come from, and can I change them?

The app shows your main plan assumptions. You can change plan settings, while Pro adds custom growth, inflation and salary growth. Growth rates are after charges. The defaults estimate long-term returns above inflation once typical fund and platform costs are paid, so there is no separate charges box. On Pro, you can adjust the rate if your costs are unusually high or low. Some model parameters are fixed and cannot be edited, including how market returns vary in stress tests. UK tax-year figures are maintained centrally and reviewed when rules change. Your plan shows which tax year it is using.

See: Plan assumptions and model parameters

Why did my Roadmap move after a check-in?

Because the Roadmap always starts from your latest balances. After a check-in, today’s bar matches exactly what you entered, and every later year is recalculated from that new starting point. A balance that came in higher or lower than the plan expected ripples through the whole projection.

Why does the Roadmap show one modelled path, not a range?

The Roadmap is deterministic: the same inputs always produce the same result, with no hidden randomness. It shows the year-by-year consequence of your plan — income, spending, tax and your growth assumptions applied in sequence — so you can trace any number back to what caused it. It’s your plan’s logic made visible, not a forecast of what markets will do; for a range of outcomes, run a stress test.

See: The Roadmap and stress testing

Does Wealthcast ignore market ups and downs?

No — it separates them out. The Roadmap deliberately uses steady long-term growth assumptions so you can see your plan’s own logic clearly. Stress tests are where market variation comes in. They re-run your plan across many varied market paths. They also apply a Market downturn test of weak years and check one-year market drops at any age. Stress testing is part of Pro.

See: The Roadmap and stress testing

What does “4,300 of 5,000 simulations held up” mean?

A stress test replays your plan across up to 5,000 simulated sequences of market returns, stopping early when the result is steady. A path holds up when planned spending is covered along the way and the plan finishes on target. The main chart shows the share still on track at each age; once a path fails, it stays failed. The Asset balances view instead shows how much money every path holds at each age, including paths that fell short earlier. The headline is a robustness check — how your plan copes when returns arrive in a different order — not the odds of what will happen to you.

See: The Roadmap and stress testing

Why a steady Roadmap plus a stress test, rather than one combined forecast?

Because they answer different questions. The Roadmap answers “does this plan add up?” — every year is traceable, so when something looks wrong you can find out why. The stress test answers “how does the same plan cope when markets don’t behave?” by re-running it across varied market paths. Blending the two into one chart would cost you the ability to inspect either.

Does Wealthcast model Inheritance Tax?

Yes, on Pro. Tell the plan who gets what under your will: a beneficiary for each asset category and for everything else (the residue), fixed cash gifts and any charity legacy. Set a death age for one or both of you. Wealthcast then works out the estate at each death. It applies the tax-free allowances, the spouse exemption and any unused allowance passed between spouses or civil partners, in the order the rules apply them. The result is shown in today’s money in the Estate planning section of the Plan page and on the Roadmap’s Estate chart. It moves with the rest of your plan as balances and spending change. It is a projection under your own assumptions, not a valuation for probate.

See: Today’s money by default

Can I add life insurance to my plan?

Yes. The Protection section of the Plan page records death in service, level and decreasing term, family income benefit and whole of life policies, and their premiums count in your spending on every tier. On Pro, an early death uses that cover to work out the payout to your survivor, any mortgage it clears and the effect on your estate. Wealthcast records the cover you already hold and shows what it would pay; it does not suggest cover to take out or say how much you need.

Why do Wealthcast’s numbers differ from my pension provider’s?

Provider projections can use a different money basis and different assumptions. Check whether yours uses future money or today’s money, then compare its growth and inflation assumptions with Wealthcast’s. Wealthcast growth rates are after charges. On Pro, set the same rates to compare like with like.

Foresight

What is Foresight?

Foresight reads your roadmap, outcomes, tax flags, and risks, and explains what stands out in a short plain-English narrative. Foresight is educational and based on your inputs and assumptions; it is not regulated advice. Markets are unpredictable and outcomes may differ. See the full disclaimer for limits.

See: Disclaimer

Does Foresight make up the numbers it shows me?

Financial figures come from Wealthcast’s calculation engine. Foresight uses those results when explaining your plan and drafting scenarios, but a generated explanation can still be wrong. When you ask for a deeper check, the calculation engine does the maths and Foresight explains the result. On Pro, Foresight can also run stress tests. These report the share of simulated market paths in which your plan holds up.

See: The Roadmap and stress testing

What uses a Foresight insight?

You use one insight each time Foresight completes something for you — a new or refreshed plan summary, or an answer to a question you ask. Failed, cancelled or blocked requests don’t count, and neither do saved summaries or the built-in answers shown when AI is unavailable. Free includes 10 insights in any rolling 30-day period. Pro has no Foresight usage limit, whether you use cloud or encrypted local-only storage.

What happens when Free’s 10 Foresight insights run out?

Foresight pauses until your rolling 30-day allowance frees up — your plan, roadmap and tracking keep working. Pro has no Foresight usage limit.

What plan data does Foresight see?

Before Foresight is switched on, you review a consent notice that lists exactly what is sent and what is never sent. We do not deliberately send names, email addresses, surnames, account names or numbers, notes, raw transactions, or transaction history. The full wording is in that notice. The Privacy Notice explains how Foresight records are kept.

See: Privacy Notice

Can Foresight change my plan?

Foresight only changes your plan after you confirm an edit. It shows the exact change first, and you can undo it later. On Pro, Foresight can also draft scenarios — separate copies you can preview, save and discard without touching your main plan.

Your data

Should I choose cloud or local-only storage?

Both modes give you the same core planning surfaces and projections. But sharing a plan with a partner and Connected AI apps need cloud storage. Cloud mode stores your plan in EU-jurisdiction Cloudflare databases, so you can sign in from any device. Local-only mode keeps your plan encrypted on one device. It offers encrypted file exports and an optional password-protected Encrypted cloud backup. You can change storage modes later from Saving options. The full comparison, including what EU residency does and does not cover, is on the Security page.

See: Two storage modes

What happens if I forget my Encrypted cloud backup password?

That Encrypted cloud backup cannot be recovered. It is locked with your password in your browser before upload, and Wealthcast cannot unlock or reset the password. Your plan in its original browser and any encrypted file backup are separate, so keep an exported file somewhere you trust.

See: Encrypted local mode

How do I back up or export my data?

It depends on your storage mode. Local-only mode lets you export an encrypted file backup. You can also choose to keep an Encrypted cloud backup that is locked with a password in your browser before upload. Both restore into your own Wealthcast account. Cloud mode instead keeps your plan in EU-jurisdiction databases so you can sign in from any device. Both Free and Pro include year-by-year data tables and CSV export of your projection.

Accounts

How do I sign in to Wealthcast?

You can use Google, Sign in with Apple, an emailed sign-in link, or a passkey. Google, Apple and emailed links reach the same Wealthcast account when they use the same email address. If you use Hide My Email with Sign in with Apple, Wealthcast gets a relay address instead, so you land in a separate, empty account. A passkey returns you to the account where you added it. Sign-in links expire in 15 minutes and work once — request a new one if yours has expired.

What happens if I lose access to my email address?

How you get back in depends on your sign-in method. A passkey or Sign in with Apple doesn’t rely on your email inbox, so adding a passkey from Profile gives you a route that stands on its own. Emailed sign-in links depend on your inbox, and Google sign-in depends on your Google account — losing access to either can mean losing that way in. If you’re locked out entirely, email hello@wealthcast.app.

How do I delete my account?

Open Profile, select Delete account, type your account email to confirm, then confirm the deletion. You’re signed out and your account is removed straight away. This cannot be undone. Foresight summaries, conversations and any encrypted cloud backup are removed with it. If you only want to clear your planning data and keep the account, the same screen offers that. There, a short 48-hour safety hold guards against mistaken deletion before the removed data is permanently cleared. What is deleted and what is kept is set out on the account-deletion page.

See: Delete your account

Household

Can I share my plan with my partner?

Yes. Invite your partner from the Shared plan section in Profile and they sign in with their own account. You both see the same plan and Wealthcast shows what changed since you last looked. With Full edit, your partner can edit the plan and record balances; with View only, they can review it but cannot change the shared plan or save check-ins. The plan owner controls that access level. Before joining, your partner reviews and accepts the shared-plan terms. Sharing needs cloud storage, and a shared plan holds two people at most.

Do my partner and I need two subscriptions?

No. Free includes one shared plan for two people, and one Pro subscription covers your whole household.

What happens if one of us leaves the shared plan?

You stop seeing the shared plan and start again with your own. The shared plan stays with the household. Your own sign-in is unaffected — sharing a plan never shares your password.

Billing

What do I get on Free, and what does Pro add?

Free covers the full core plan. It includes setup and the year-by-year Roadmap, with UK tax and allowances built in. You also get net-worth snapshots and history, your life cover and its premiums, and 10 Foresight insights in any rolling 30-day period. Pro adds saved scenarios you can compare side by side. It adds stress tests across varied market paths and one-year market drops, and Goal finder, which solves for retirement spending, monthly saving and lump sums. It also adds estate planning with Inheritance Tax at each death, the effect of an early death on your household, Connected AI apps and unlimited Foresight insights.

See: Pricing

Can I cancel Pro?

Yes — any time. If you subscribed on the web, cancel from Manage subscription in Profile. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel in that store. Cancelling stops future renewal, and Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Can I get a refund?

If you’re a UK consumer, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing and receive a full refund with no deduction for use. If you subscribed on the web, use Cancel and get a full refund in Profile. You can also send a clear cancellation request to hello@wealthcast.app, however you subscribed. After 14 days, cancelling stops future renewal and Pro continues to the end of the paid period — the full terms are on the terms page.

See: Terms of Service

The app

Can I install Wealthcast on my phone?

Yes — Wealthcast installs as a web app from your browser. On iPhone, open wealthcast.app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; on Android and desktop, use the Install prompt when it appears. Your Roadmap and check-ins are then one tap away.

Does Wealthcast work offline?

Wealthcast needs a connection to load and move around the app. If you go offline, pages you viewed recently may still open, and anything that cannot load shows an offline page with a Try again button.

How do I report a problem, and how do I check whether Wealthcast is down?

Open the account menu at the top of the app and select Report a problem. Describe what you were doing, what you expected and what happened, and pick how much it affects you. For live service status, check the status page, or email hello@wealthcast.app.
