Before you connect
You need:
- A Wealthcast account with a completed plan and balance snapshot.
- Cloud storage. The remote connector cannot read a plan kept only in encrypted local mode on your device.
- Wealthcast Pro to create a new connection. An existing connection on a Free account keeps the limited Free tool set described below.
- A compatible AI app and permission to add apps or connectors in that app. A workspace administrator may control this permission.
- A desktop browser or desktop app for setup. ChatGPT and Claude do not currently support the complete setup journey in their mobile apps.
Set up a connection
- Sign in to Wealthcast, open Profile, then open Connected AI apps.
- Copy the server URL:
https://wealthcast.app/mcp. - In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode under Settings → Plugins → Developer mode. Close Settings, select Plugins in the sidebar, then select +, Create app and Create MCP App. In Claude on an individual plan, open Customize → Connectors, select Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name the connection Wealthcast and use the server URL above. In ChatGPT, keep OAuth as the authentication method and tick I understand and want to continue. In Claude, select Continue, keep the sign-in settings it detects, then select Add.
- Sign in to Wealthcast when prompted. Check the app name, permission and server before approving access.
- In a conversation, choose Wealthcast from the AI app’s apps, connectors or tools menu.
On an organisation-managed ChatGPT workspace, an administrator may need to allow the app. On Claude Team or Enterprise, an owner must add the connector under organisation settings → Connectors before members can connect it from Customize → Connectors.
Permissions and limits
When you connect, Wealthcast shows what the AI app is asking for. You can allow all of it, or choose read-only access instead.
- Read (
mcp:read): reads the parts of your cloud plan and projections your Wealthcast tier includes. Every connection has this. - Scenario drafting (
mcp:write:scenarios, Pro): drafts and compares scenarios, and saves a new scenario to your account. A saved scenario never changes your plan, and you can delete it. - Plan proposals (
mcp:write:plan, Pro): proposes a change to your plan or a balance check-in. Nothing changes until you open the link the AI app gives you and confirm it in Wealthcast within an hour.
No connection can move money, arrange a transaction or select a financial product. In a shared plan, only members with Full edit access can use scenario drafting or plan proposals. Profile → Connected AI apps shows what each connection can do.
An existing Free connection has 7 tools covering:
- Plan context
- Wealthcast tax assumptions
- A single-year breakdown
- Cashflow
- Estate breakdown
- A bounded stress test
- Explanations of supported concepts
Pro has the full 25-tool read surface. It adds saved-scenario reads and comparisons, bounded what-if calculations, goal solving, contribution comparisons and net-worth tracking. With scenario drafting and plan proposals allowed, Pro also has4 write tools. A Free connection cannot discover or call those Pro-only tools.
The daily tool-call allowance is 100 on Free and 500 on Pro. Intensive calculations also share one slot per person and have short rate limits. If one is already running, wait for the retry time shown by the AI app before trying another intensive calculation. Those short intensive-tool limits do not block ordinary plan and projection reads, but the daily allowance applies to every tool. Scenario drafts also share Foresight’s daily draft allowance.
Your AI assistant can draft and save scenarios and propose changes, but your plan and balances change only when you confirm a change in Wealthcast.
Wealthcast supplies information about your plan; anything your AI assistant tells you is not from Wealthcast and is not financial advice.
Figures start in today’s money
Connected AI tools return Wealthcast projections in today’s money: what future amounts would be worth today, after inflation. This makes a future figure comparable with your budget now. Ask the AI app to keep that basis visible when it explains or compares results.
Results remain projections under your plan assumptions, not promises or account valuations. Read How our numbers work for the full basis and limitations.
How data is handled
When the AI app calls a Wealthcast tool, Wealthcast returns only the plan, projection, tax, scenario or tracking data needed for that tool’s result. This can include personal financial-planning data. It does not include bank login details, card details or transaction history because Wealthcast does not collect those through the connector.
Wealthcast stores the connection record and hashed OAuth credentials. Its connector audit row records the tool name, a hash of the arguments, the outcome, duration and time; it does not store the raw tool arguments or result. The rest of your conversation is not sent to Wealthcast through this connection.
With scenario drafting or plan proposals allowed, the drafts, saved scenarios and proposals the AI app creates are stored in your Wealthcast account, like the ones you create in the app, and are deleted with your account.
The AI provider receives the tool result and may retain the conversation or result under your account, workspace settings and its own terms. Do not ask the AI app to fetch information you do not want included in that conversation. Wealthcast does not sell your personal information. See the Privacy Notice, Terms of Service and your AI provider’s privacy controls for more detail.
Disconnect or delete
Stop future access
- In Wealthcast, open Profile → Connected AI apps.
- Find the app and select Disconnect.
- Remove Wealthcast from the AI app or workspace too if you no longer want it listed there.
Disconnecting in Wealthcast revokes that OAuth grant and its tokens, so the app cannot make another Wealthcast tool call. It does not erase tool results already present in an AI-provider conversation; use that provider’s conversation and data controls for those copies. A proposal the app already sent changes nothing unless you confirm it, and expires after an hour.
Delete your Wealthcast account
Account deletion revokes every connected-app grant immediately and removes the account-owned OAuth grants, token records and connector audit rows as part of deletion. Follow the signed-in steps or the no-access route on Delete your account. Deleting Wealthcast data does not delete a conversation already stored by an AI provider.
Troubleshooting
The create or custom-connector option is missing
Use a desktop browser or desktop app. In ChatGPT, check that developer mode is on. In a managed workspace, ask the administrator or owner whether apps and custom connectors are allowed.
Wealthcast says cloud storage is required
The remote server cannot read a plan saved only on your device. In Wealthcast, open Profile → Storage and backups and switch to cloud storage if that is the storage choice you want.
A tool is unavailable
The tool may require Pro, a completed part of your plan, or a saved scenario. If the result says you have reached a limit or another intensive calculation is running, follow its retry time instead of immediately repeating the call.
Sign-in completed, but the connection is missing
Refresh both apps. If it is still missing, disconnect Wealthcast in the AI app, check that https://wealthcast.app/mcp is the saved server URL, and connect again.
Get more help
Check service status or email hello@wealthcast.app. Include the AI app name and the error message, but do not email your plan, OAuth token or other financial details.
